This is only a list to get you thinking, rather than a list of what everyone must bring. Try to walk through every day and every situation in your mind and work out which things you can do without. (If you can't carry it all by yourself, don't bring it.)

  • A good backpack to tote your belongings in to/from the worksite
  • A small flashlight (hand-held or head-mounted)
  • "Emergency" back up toilet tissue or wet wipes
  • Adapter and converter for any electrical appliances you may bring
  • Locks for all baggage
  • Alarm clock
  • Nail clippers, toothpicks, dental floss
  • Small travel mirror
  • Cameras, extra batteries and memory cards (or film)
  • A personal journal
  • Any special packaged food/snacks you may desire
  • Gatorade or other powdered drink mix (staying hydrated and replenishing electrolytes is essential to staying healthy)
  • Bandanas for cooling off & protection from the sun
  • Rain gear (poncho will do fine)
  •  Long sleeve t-shirt for evenings to keep bugs away
  • One "nice" outfit in the event you want to get a little dressed up
  • Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, high SPF sunscreen, chapstick, etc.
  • Shower shoes (flip flops)

WHAT TO BRING

  • Good quality work gloves
  • Zip-lock bags for wet and soiled clothing
  • Sturdy shoes or work boots (tennis shoes
    will be fine)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Insulated water bottle
  • Insect repellent
  • Medicines: The affiliate will have a medical
kit at the site and I will bring additional first aid
supplies as well. However, the type of
medicines available in Nepal may not be the
same type with which we are familiar.
Bring any that you may need (prescription
    or otherwise).
  • Notes about appropriate dress for men and
women will be shared in a future newsletter
    to the team.
