BRIAN HOLROYD
SAN RAMON, CA. - 59

I grew up in England but have lived in the San Francisco area for 35 years. I've been weaning my way off my software consulting business for the last few years. I have one customer left, so I still have to carry the company laptop around with me.

I've transitioned to a second career, which is trading the stock market. I'd call it a hobby because it's much more enjoyable than fixing bugs in the middle of the night, except that it's what puts food on the table. So I have to carry a second laptop around with me. I'm the guy with multiple power cords dangling out my backpack, and if you see a light on in my hotel bedroom in the middle of the night, it's either because my customer called or because Wall Street is open.

A chunk of the rest of my day is spent sweating, either grinding it out on a mountain bike, or on a squash or tennis court, or trekking up mountains. My wife and I are planning to summit Mt. Whitney a couple weeks after this trip.

And I have a passion for traveling, which I am now able to devote much more time to. I try to get in 5 or 6 international trips a year, which includes multiple GV trips.
